Do you have a book you would like to publish?

Self-publishing is an option more and more writers are choosing, because it gives the writer one-hundred percent of the profits, not just royalties. And it also lets you see a book on your shelf in only weeks, letting you start to make money almost right away.

But isn't self-publishing complicated, you ask? Not if you have someone to walk you through what you need to know.

You choose as little or as much help as you need:
  • Page design: The design of the pages of your book needs to be appropriate to the content. A novel should look different than a how-to book! A book designer can give advice and work with you to develop a design that showcases your hard work.
  • Layout: Your book's layout should be precise and consistent and in a format your printer can use with ease. It should also be done with an artist's eye, because how the pages look is key to how much readers enjoy your book.
  • Cover design: The cover needs to reflect the inside of the book. And it needs to make your readers want to open your book! An artist experienced in cover design can make sure your cover is inviting and that it follows the format needed by your printer.
  • ISBNs: An ISBN and barcode are actually quite easy to obtain for your book. Don't be fooled by book publishers who make it seem like a mystery and, in some cases, want you to use an ISBN of their own. If that happens, make doubly sure you are retaining all of the rights to your book.
  • Copyrights: Your material is automatically copyrighted as soon as you put words on paper, even before it appears in book form. No one can legally use your work without your permission. Where self-publishers are much more likely to get into trouble, though, is the other direction -- using quotes or photos that belong to others. You do not want to get into trouble later by using a photo for your cover without proper permission!
  • Editing: Your writing is probably already very good. But an editor can make it even better -- by catching inconsistencies and grammatical errors. Everyone's writing profits from a second pair of eyes!
  • Photo editing: PIctures and graphics need to be edited for color balance and composition. This gives your book a professional appearance. Usually it takes only a few small changes to make your photos right for your book or cover, but they are changes that only someone who understands photo editing can do.
  • Promotional materials: If you intend to market your book, you may want pointers about promotional materials, including websites. Our background includes successfully marketed self-published materials.
